Some existing Lutron systems contain wired communication Maestro-style dimmers, fan speed controls, and switches. HomeWorks QS supports these legacy systems. However, it does not support Vareo architectural-style dimmers or switches.

Motorized shades are another consideration. While the latest system is generally paired with QS shades, there are workarounds. At 54 Electric, our Lutron experts understand every detail, enabling us to integrate the latest technology while retaining existing infrastructure.

HomeWorks QSX is compatible with all HomeWorks wired QS and wireless RF devices as well as Ketra light sources.

Modern LED Lighting

Many of Lutron's legacy systems were designed at a time when light sources revolved around incandescent and halogen technology. Today, LED lighting is the modern choice due to its energy efficiency, longer lifespan, and ability to change color temperatures and intensities.

Using LED lights with older Lutron Lighting control versions can result in flickering and buzzing because these systems weren't designed for the properties inherent in LEDs. These lights also require different dimming technologies to operate effectively.

HomeWorks QS supports Ketra lights, the most advanced LED lighting system. The press of a button programmed for various activities and moods or activations based on time or occupancy can initiate Ketra scenes. These scenes change the color and intensity of your lights to match the occasion. 

The HomeWorks QSX system also uses advanced dimming modules that adapt to the electrical characteristics of the connected light source, ensuring flicker-free dimming.
